Limescale Protection

your home’s natural source of minerals

Drinking water is good for our health, since it contains soluble trace elements and minerals like calcium and magnesium. These vital minerals are needed by our bodies, because they enable energy to metabolise, help bones to form and supplement our day-to-day energy needs.

But the minerals that are so crucial for our bodies are precisely those that are responsible for water hardness. The calcium and magnesium ions in the water cause limescale to build up in pipes, boilers and shower heads. Heating costs also increase; a 2 mm-thick coating of limescale on the heating surfaces of heat exchangers in kettles or boilers can increase energy consumption by up to 20%. Limescale deposits on the rough interior surface of water pipes are also ideal breeding grounds for various types of bacteria.

BWT limescale protection systems, like AQA Nano, stabilise the calcium dissolved in the water, while retaining the more beneficial minerals. So, with just one daily sip of our drinking water, we can automatically absorb precious calcium and magnesium − a vital and enjoyable drinking experience that boosts our health and performance.

But BWT products not only prove their worth in the kitchen, but in the bathroom too. Water with a high calcium content leaves deposits on shower walls and fittings, resulting in laborious cleaning and the rapid deterioration of the facilities. But when the domestic water is treated with B-Safe, the calcium remains in the water, which is good for our household appliances. With the latest BWT technology, no limescale can form in the pipe system.

Boost your health and that of your family and enjoy precious water from clean pipes.

AQA Nano

Low-cost BWT reliability
AQA nano provides ideal basic limescale protection for up to 20° dH maximum water hardness and reliable protection against limescale formation and blocked pipes. Clear, clean pipes also prevent bacteria and germs, such as Legionella, from posing unnecessary health risks.

BWT drinking water enjoyment
The AQA nano system uses the proven, patented, nano crystal formation process. Nano crystals are formed by electrical current and voltage impulses and stabilise the calcium compounds dissolved in your drinking water while retaining all the important minerals, i.e. calcium and magnesium.

BWT convenience
AQA nano is hands-free. The microprocessor-controlled electronics enable the system to operate fully automatically; all you have to do is change the limescale protection unit, either when water consumption has reached 110 cubic metres or no later than every 12 months. The integrated controller will provide a reminder of this, so you can sit back and relax.

B-Safe

Highly Efficient Protection Against Legionella and Bacteria

The B-SAFE hygiene filter is designed to add an extra layer of protection for consistent hygiene at the point of use. It can also serve as an immediate solution if the water distribution system is contaminated. This filter acts as a reliable barrier against infections from legionella, bacteria, and protozoa. B-Safe is especially effective in critical zones where vulnerable individuals need protection.

Technical Details

  • Max. operating pressure: 6 bar

  • Connection thread Inch: 1/2" AG

  • Pressure loss*, new filter at 800 l/h: 0.8 bar

  • Diameter filter: 49mm

  • Installation length filter: 161mm

  • Duration of use** per filter max. (weeks): 4

  • Operating temperature (water), max.: 65 °C

  • Operating temperature, short-term, < 5min.: 80°C

  • Nominal flow, max.: 800 l/h

  • Retention rate: 0.02 μm

*Pressure loss increases with increasing operating time; The filter must be replaced if there is a high pressure loss, even if the specified service life has not yet been reached.

**Generally dependent on water quality; Sand, rust, lime particles, biofilm fragments and other cloudy substances can reduce the service life.
